Looking for a cafe in Sofia where you can work on your laptop? For the past eight years, I’ve been working from home, so I’ve learned to appreciate the Sofia city’s cosy and comfy spots, and here are my favourites.
Steps
When I’m in Sofia, I like to work from The Steps, a freshly completed office complex with soaring ceilings and plenty of space. Electricity outlets are located throughout the space, as well as high-speed Wi-Fi. You can bring your own lunch to the bar, however it solely serves coffee and beverages. They provide a vegan option for their milk, too. The Steps is also a welcoming space for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
1. Coffeehouse/Café for the Public
Social Cafe Bar & Kitchen, located on Vitoshka, the city’s main pedestrian thoroughfare, is another one of my top picks. Make your way inside or to the second story and you’ll be surprised to see how empty it really is. The meal and drink selections are excellent, and there are a few tables near electrical outlets for those who like to charge their devices while they wait for their dinner.
2.Cafe Green Deli & Bakery
They have a great lunch menu, and there are always alternatives for vegetarians and those who want to eat healthily. During lunchtime, it can be a little boisterous, but the rest of the time, it’s quite peaceful and relaxing. I like to work in the Green Deli on ‘Alexander Stamboliyski’ blvd., on the second floor, because it’s close to everything yet also peaceful and cosy. Sofia has a total of 11 Green Deli cafes.
3. The Coffee Fellows
Coffee Fellows, a popular hangout on Vitosha street, is a second favourite. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, as well as a large window for people-watching. The coffee here is fantastic, and the location is ideal for lunch because there are so many great alternatives around.
4. Photosynthesis
The café area on the second level of Photosynthesis is a great place to get some work done. Natural light and power are plentiful in this area. A variety of paintings and exhibitions are continually on display.
5. Cocktails, Pastries, and More!
Barista Coffee & More has long been a favourite among those who are looking for a place to work on their laptops. There are a lot of places to plug in. Some little snacks are also available in the coffee shop. If you’re looking for a quiet place to work for a few hours, this is a nice alternative.
6. Peroto’s literary club
Peroto can get crowded with students and special events, but there are plenty of seats available, so it’s a good choice regardless of the circumstances. There are a few power outlets scattered around the large space, but not all of them. More than a half-day of serious work can be accomplished on it, but not much more.
7. Open Coworking is a bonus.
If you’re looking for a place where you’ll be surrounded by like-minded people yet still be able to focus on your job, a coworking space is a good option. Sofia’s newest coworking space, Open Coworking, has just opened in the city’s heart.
Why do we work better in coffee shops?
The idea that working in busy, noisy places like coffee shops enhances creativity and concentration has had a great deal of press over recent years. Research has shown that a moderate level of ambient noise, such as the clattering of plates and the whir of a coffee machine, improves performance on creative tasks
