The Eiffel Tower is the most-visited landmark in the world, with 7 million people coming to see it every year. If you want to be one of them, here’s what you need to know to have a good time at the Eiffel Tower, whether you have kids or not.
The Eiffel Tower is true
- Gustave Eiffel built it for the Exposition Universelle in 1889, which was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.
- Its height is 324 metres.
- The Eiffel Tower not made of steel; it is made of iron.
- It has a weight of about 10,100 tonnes.
- It took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days to build.
- Since the 1980s, it has been regularly updated, fixed up, and changed.
- Almost 7 million people visit it every year.
- Taking Kids to the Eiffel Tower
When I was a teenager, my parents took me to Paris for the first time. Of course, I had to climb the Eiffel tower. On my later trips, I tried to stay away from it at all costs. It was because the monument was too crowded with tourists and, well, just not worth my time when there was so much to do in Paris.
It’s true. I think I could spend my whole life in Paris.
This summer, we took our kids to Paris for the first time. Out of all the things they could do, they insisted on going to the Eiffel Tower.
We sighed and said “okay,” and I’m so glad we did. Even though it’s full of tourists and always busy, even with the corona measures, it has a special charm. Every year, 7 million people can’t all be wrong.
Where are the best places to buy Eiffel tower tickets?
We were planning to go to Paris in August 2021, but with all the covid restrictions, we weren’t sure if we were going to make it. I looked at the tickets online, but I was too afraid to buy them.
At the same time, we didn’t know what the weather would be like, so we ended up buying them there.
If this special situation changes, I wouldn’t recommend doing that, because you might not get the tickets or you might only get tickets to walk up the tower.
If you really want to take the elevator up, you should buy your tickets online.
How much do Eiffel Tower tickets cost?
This is based on:
- Walking up is cheaper than taking an elevator, no matter how you want to get to the top.
- if you want to go to the second floor or all the way to the top.
- How old are you?
The Eiffel Tower on foot?
Yes, you did read it correctly. We decided to climb up the Eiffel Tower because there was a line for the elevators but no line to walk up.
I was worried that all the walking around the city would be too hard on the kids, but it wasn’t as hard as it looked.
If you choose to walk, you can only get as far as the second floor. But trust me, that’s enough. If you go all the way to the top, you won’t see much more. Most likely, it will only get scarier.
The official website says it will take about 30 minutes to walk up the stairs, but it only took us about 15 minutes, even though we stopped to take pictures and look around. As you go up the stairs, there are a lot of fun facts and encouraging messages that tell you to keep going.
When should you go to the Eiffel Tower?
The busiest time, according to their official website, is from the end of June to the beginning of September. But I bet it’s busy all the time, so give it a shot. It’s better to buy tickets online than to wait around. If you decide to walk, it will also help you get up faster.
Taking kids to the Eiffel Tower?
On the first floor, there are activities for families, such as a fun and educational tour for kids, a museographic path, and a coffee shop.
ether you have kids with you or not, don’t go to the tower without a bottle of water and some snacks you can eat while looking at Paris.
