France Travel Bucket List
Here are a few things to do in France that you can include in your next France trip. So, it is advisable to plan your next trip by keeping these things on your bucket list ideas. Few France travel bucket list ideas are as follows:
1. Eiffel Tower
Did you know that the Eiffel Tower was supposed to be in Barcelona, Spain? However, they rejected the concept because they thought it would be an eyesore. So, Gustave Eiffel proposed it to Paris, where it would be for the World’s Fair commemorating the centennial of the French Revolution in 1889. It was also unpopular among Parisians. In truth, it was to be demolished, but radio allowed it to establish its worth by sending and receiving wireless signals for the French troops. However, it has now become one of France’s most recognized landmarks.
2. Disneyland Paris
What are the things to do in France with kids? Or if you are simply a fan of Disney? Then go on a day excursion to Disneyland Paris. Maybe you’re on a quest to visit every Disneyland in the world. In any case, Disneyland Paris has a lot to offer, including family-friendly attractions, live entertainment, and, of course, the opportunity to take photos with your favorite Disney characters.
3. The Alps
You might as well ski while you’re here, right? If you have never been to a ski resort before Grenoble to study. Everyone around is planning their ski weekends. So, it is an excellent place to learn to ski, and there are numerous ski resorts to make the decision.
4. Visit the Louvre
It is an obvious choice. The world’s largest art museum houses remarkable world wonders ranging from the famed Mona Lisa to art dating back to the Neolithic period with the Ain Ghazal Statue, the museum’s oldest piece of art at 9,000 years old. There are numerous classic paintings from the Renaissance era that add to art from all around the world. You may spend days here and not see everything, but if you’re short on time, a few hours will suffice, and if the majority swiftly moves. However, you can save time by purchasing a skip-the-line ticket ahead of time. You’ll avoid the crowds and have more time to explore this great museum. Visiting the Louvre is one of the best things to do in France with your family.
5. Chamonix and Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc, France’s tallest peak, rises 15,774 feet (4,707 meters) above sea level. So, adding this gigantic wonder to your France bucket list makes sense. Chamonix is the best spot to stay to see this natural gem. Chamonix is also a beautiful town that is ideal for travelers. Chamonix is the place to go if you prefer winter activities or trekking in the summer. And you don’t have to work too hard to gain views of Mont Blanc; take the cable car up to the viewing platforms and enjoy the scenery.
6. Colmar Christmas Market
First and foremost, if you’re considering spending the holidays in France, the Alsace area is the place to be. For the holidays, the cities and towns here go all out. Colmar is no different. This beautiful village appears like a gingerbread fairyland, but when you add the holiday decor and its six Christmas markets, it will become the snowglobe fantasy of your dreams.
7. Wall of I Love You
The I Love You Wall (Mur des Je time) is a hidden jewel for lovers in Paris, dubbed the “City of Love.” This wall contains the phrase I love you printed 311 times in 250 languages. It includes all languages and uncommon ones like Navajo, Esperanto, and others. Taking photos here is a must-do for couples visiting France, and some even get engaged here. In a world filled with hatred, it is heartwarming to watch couples, families, and friends enjoying this wall of love together. Visiting the Wall of I Love You is one of the best things to do in France with your partner.
8. Sacre Coeur
The Sacre Coeur, another chapel in Paris, is located at the summit of a hill in Montmartre. The interior is Romano-Byzantine, with stunning stained glass windows and murals. Outside of the Sacre Coeur, however, there are breathtaking views of Paris. It is the most required polos vistas in Paris.
9. The Cafes of Paris
Paris is famous for its fantastic cafes. There are cute ones, such as the instantly identifiable Le Consulat, and historical ones, such as Cafe de Flore and Les Deux Magots. A trip to Paris almost always includes some time spent in a café, whether you want to imagine yourself writing a book in the corner like Hemingway or you want to enjoy some of the best hot chocolate.
10. Notre Dame
Visiting Notre Dame, one of the world’s most famous churches, is like seeing a whole piece of art. Unfortunately, visitors were not allowed due to the fire in 2019. Since the church is still under renovation, you can enjoy the exterior, with the stunning rose window and gargoyles. When the cathedral opens, the looser glass window stained will represent that the French gothic architecture will be breathtaking.
11. Seine River
Walking down the Seine is quite romantic! Discover quaint green booths selling books and handicrafts, sandy beaches by the Seine in the summer, and folks relaxing after work at a pub along the river. The Seine is Paris’s beating heart. Walking along it is one of the only ways to see it. However, cruising on it at sunset is romantic. On a trip along the Seine, take in the sights from the boat and admire the Eiffel Tower at night. Visiting the Seine River is one of the best things to do in France.
12. Paragliding in the Alps
Paragliding in the Alps is a must for the courageous and those who aren’t afraid of heights. Depending on the weather, you can arrange a paragliding tour to coast over stunning mountains and lakes in the French Alps from April to November. If you choose, you can do this while staying in Annecy or Chamonix. You do not need prior experience in tandem paragliding with a professional.
The Savoie wine area in France, near the Swiss border, is less well-known than the others mentioned above, but it is worth visiting. Indeed, on my most recent trip to France, I did a hiking and wine tour of the Savoie, which has stunning mountain views and even glaciers to spot while hiking to scenic vineyards. The Savoie wine area is most renowned for its white wines, including Jacquere, Rosette, and Roussanne. However, there are a few red varietals as well.
Lyon is not just the gourmet capital of France but also of the world. It is no surprise that it is one of the top cities in the world to visit for food lovers, with over 4,300 restaurants and 17 Michelin-starred restaurants. Visit the Paul Bocuse Les Halles de Lyon. This market is an excellent place to go because it has a wide range of produce, meats, cheeses, baked products, and other items. Visiting Lyon is one of the best things to do in France.
Perhaps you are a history buff or know everything there is to know about Marie Antoinette. In any case, Versailles is a fascinating and vast destination to explore. I’ve never seen anything like the Palace of Versailles. It is usually empty (due to the French Revolution). While the palace features a classic view like the Hall of Mirrors and Gallery of Battles, there are many more locations to visit nearby.
